8pm: Star Tryptic is harpist Elisa Thorn (Vancouver), guitarist David Gabilan Riddel (Toronto) and vocalist Laura Swankey (Toronto). These three like-minded musicians present sweet, heart-felt melodies over diverse sound worlds. Bridging improvising, interpreting and composition, they use evocative extended techniques and electronic effects, while always trying to capture and communicate beauty in raw human expression. They draw repertoire from the Americana folk music, and their own compositions.

9:30: The Band Named Crow is a group of Torontonian musicians and composers writing music based on the surreal worlds of Japanese novelistHaruki Murakami. Blending the improvised and the composed, the acoustic and the electric, the established and the experimental, they tell stories of unexplained disappearances, enchanted labrynthine forests, mysterious cross-dimensional travellers, a man who can talk to cats, soul-searching, love and loss.
